Allowing for survival

Oh to be sure in politics (war fought by other means) there are some tactical nuances.  Rooting out the fifth column types is a necessity over time (primary election involvement). Depending on the ratios and vulnerability of majority control, that may mean resource allocation that denies some Republicans, — Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowsik, among others, come to mind.   But Mark Overstreet writing at The Federalist makes the only point that allows for survival:
