When Black Lives Don’t Matter

With the recent rash of shootings and murders in the QCs, could this phone call have been made?

BLM receptionist: “Black Lives Matter HQ, how may I help you?”

Caller: “I’m a concerned citizen from Davenport, IA. We need help. Just this spring, we’ve lost a teenage boy, a young woman, and a pillar of our community. All shot down on our streets.”

BLM receptionist: “Were all 3 African-American?”

Caller: “Yes. I’t been weeks and not a single arrest has been made. Crimestoppers has a $10,000 reward for the community leader’s killer, nothing for the others. It’s like nobody cares. Our mayor called another summit, but we need action, not talk. With all the ‘shots fired’ calls around town it’s bound to happen again soon. I’m afraid for myself and my kids. Can you help?”

BLM receptionist: “Were the police involved in any of these shootings?”

Caller: “No, but what difference does that make? They’re dead, and no one’s being held responsible.”

BLM receptionist: Sorry, we don’t get involved in that sort of thing. Have you tried Madonna, or other celebrities? They occasionally do benefits or rallies to get free publicity. Sorry we couldn’t be of assistance. Goodbye.”

I’m certain the Davenport PD is working the cases. I’m equally certain that the identities of these killers are known to some who are more loyal to their “Don’t be a rat” culture than they are to the human race. In their minds, a black life only “matters” when it’s taken by the police. Very sad.
