What’ll it be American Catholics: the destruction of humanity…or shutting off the A/C?

According to Pope Francis’ lights:

“Climate change was a challenge of “epochal proportions”, he said, adding that the world needed an energy mix that combated pollution, eliminated poverty and promoted social justice.”

Pope calls on oil execs to convert to clean fuels

“An energy mix that (combats) pollution, eliminate(s) poverty and promote(s) social justice”.

What would that “energy mix” be comprised of?

My guess is that Pope Francis’s favorite “energy mix” is reflected in the Paris Agreement”…the one that Obama signed up for and President Trump pulled out of.

That “mix” included the U.S. putting up $3 billion upfront and making commitments beyond those of any other participating country. And, like the laughable “Kyoto Agreement” most of them would not meet even those commitments. But the “agreement’ would still have America’s $3 B to “combat “global poverty and promote Francis’s ideas of “social justice”.

Well, folks, why don’t we test some the Pontiff’s other ideas on how to fight “climate change”?

One of the Holy Father’s deep thoughts in his encyclical “Laudato Si” in 2015 was in identifying air conditioning as one of the major contributors to climate change…all because a bunch of capitalists took advantage of the product’s great popularity and thought they could make a profit from it.

Oddly enough, however, despite the “danger” of climate change of “epochal proportions” Il Papa did not call for his pastors worldwide to rid their parishes of this evil.

So, since His Holiness has now identified just how imminent our planet’s destruction is, due to climate change, we would suggest that this is the ideal time for a call to all Catholic parishes to immediately shut down air conditioning in their churches…especially in the U.S. where summertime temperatures would reward the Pontiff’s flock with many spiritual rewards for their act of penance for enduring 90 degree plus temps during weekly Mass.

And the bonus would be in inflicting the greatest discomfort on Americans, who have sinfully exploited the world’s resources for their own benefit.

So, why not, Il Papa? Or is it that the big checks Americans write that keeps the Vatican afloat may not keep coming?       DLH

Dissent not allowed

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis warned that climate change risked destroying humanity on Saturday and called on energy leaders to help the world to convert to clean fuels to avert catastrophe.

“Civilization requires energy but energy use must not destroy civilization,” the pope told top oil company executives at the end of a two-day conference in the Vatican.
Climate change was a challenge of “epochal proportions”, he said, adding that the world needed an energy mix that combated pollution, eliminated poverty and promoted social justice.

The conference, held behind closed doors at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, brought together oil executives, investors and Vatican experts who, like the pope, back scientific opinion that climate change is caused by human activity.
