About the Samantha Bee comment:

  • Don’t be shocked, it is now OK to use “the term” (by liberal standards)
  • No, we are not endorsing “free to be vile”
  • Advertising and gooberment support for a more subtle but vile political agenda has been going on for a long time, and is of more concern

Some liberals are now saying the word is now a compliment, or something  (they should try it on their women folk). From Stilton Jarlsberg’s commentary

Sally Field, much beloved for her eons-ago role in TV’s “The Flying C*nt” and the big screen “Forrest C*nt,” tweeted “I like Samantha Bee a lot, but she is flat wrong to call Ivanka a c*nt. C*nts are powerful, beautiful, nurturing and honest.”

And of course, the Twitterverse went crazy, praising Ms. Field’s wit and wisdom.

So if we’re getting this straight (not that we mean to use a term which could seem homophobic or sexually binary), it’s now a compliment to call a woman a c*nt…and it only applies to progressive women?

And so it goes.  If the term had been used on advertising supported entertainment television by a conservative directed at a liberal, well you know the outrage to ensue and how quick the heads would roll.

But with liberal media organizations, anything vile directed at anything Trump gets an initial and automatic pass, no serious in-house limiters or correctives are felt necessary.  If outside criticism reaches a high enough point, apologies are extended but of course it will be back to business as usual, perhaps more subtle for awhile. Occasional exceptions are only the result of the most outrageous matters, mostly bad timing that counteracts a then current politically correct promotion whereby the charge of hypocrisy cannot be ignored.

Samantha Bee and TBS Apologized for the Vile Ivanka Trump Comments After Sponsor Pulls Out

In fact, Bee and TBS as a whole wasn’t offering up any kind of explanation either. That is, until the real threat of sponsors disappearing became a thing, as Autotrader demonstrated.

Thank you to those who reached out regarding our sponsorship of Full Frontal. The comments expressed by Samantha Bee were offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company. As a result, we have suspended our sponsorship of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Suddenly, Bee and TBS couldn’t apologize fast enough.

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it,” Bee said in a statement according to CNN.

TBS, as well, threw in their apology alongside hers.

Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night. Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.

— TBS Network (@TBSNetwork) May 31, 2018

And TBS should apologize. This wasn’t the same as Roseanne’s racist tweet, which was an individual moment of pure stupidity. This was written, approved, said on the show, and aired by the network.

The economic impact of one or two advertisers pulling out is only a fairly mild inducement, not compelling in and of itself.  An advertiser pulling out for less explosive single comments, however serial,  will be ignored in support of the agenda liberal media management is promulgating and other advertisers are willing to finance.  Even viewership is not a compelling standard for liberal management as favored shows will be propped up and shows not in keeping with the agenda, regardless of viewership, canceled or handicapped.  Certainly cultural  degradation is not something liberal management and most corporate advertisers are concerned about.

For the record I am not concerned with what Samantha Bee says. She is an idiot. It is admittedly for us more a matter of exposing liberal hypocrisy, using their rules against them in a conservative Alinsky way – make them live by their standards. We don’t necessarily like the standards of liberals, they are not free speech proponents.  And we don’t like their use of the cudgels of government to manipulate their agenda. In spite of the grossness of the Samantha Bee comment we are more concerned about the more subtle less bombastic endemic liberal attacks on conservatives, the manipulations political and legislative and corporate support for same.  In that regard consider this article also at Red State by Strief

Google Says the California GOP Follows Nazi Ideology

Liberals — so big on regulating corporate speech said to impact elections, yet Google, Facebook , Twitter, Amazon – censure conservatives, foster/contribute to causes inextricable from a political agenda.  They do so  directly or indirectly by or through their controlling ownership/management, who are as political as you can get, seeking to influence matters with abandon. Not a liberal tut-tutter to be found.

We do not like the big hand of government, and we are not sure what Strief is suggesting in the article, but the scratch my back I’ll scratch yours arrangement between big business and liberal zeitgeist of big government that has helped Google and Amazon and others needs to be stopped.      R Mall

As a Veteran of the US Army, I can attest that the “cunt cap” has been around waaay longer than the “pussy hat”.

Oct 18, 2009 – Cunt Cap. US Army elongated hat (cover) that comes together at the front and back. Sometimes called a “Garrison Cap.” From underneath looks like a “cunt” or female genitalia. Last edited on Feb 14 2013.

If you listen to Bee’s entire bit, the C-word slur wasn’t the worst of it.

  3. DLH says:

I, too, am familiar with the term and its ‘barracks chatter” origins.

However, there a number of other words and terms that are tossed around in military barracks, and “locker rooms” of both genders that seem not to fit in that “civilized discourse” the left so fervently seeks.
However, such a dignified and widely admired feminist writer and English professor Germaine Greer argues that cunt “is one of the few remaining words in the English language with a genuine power to shock.” (Wikipedia)
Really? You don’t suppose S.Bee was attempting to ‘powerfully shock”. If there are any more such words with a ‘genuine power to shock’, I guess we can expect to hear them from the left very soon, surely to apply to our president or his family (and his voters).
