When it wasn’t diversity for diversity’s sake

In war-time – one color – green

We found the photo attached to today’s John Marx column in the Dispatch – Argus enthralling.  The article is titled   Moline veteran finds Willie after all these years

Marx, the D-A’s answer to Bill Wundram * of the QC Times writes local interest often light humor commentary, usually not partisan per se but typically politically correct when he ventures forth.  Today’s article probably deserved a lengthier write-up if the source was more forthcoming, detailing more. However we found a lot of texture in the included picture not commented on by Marx.

Look at the diversity in the early 1950’s Army.   Look who is among those wearing the stripes.  I see an Hispanic, a Black man and an Oriental among the group. Look at the seriousness, the dedication, the competence, the camaraderie that exudes from all. That was key. No diversity for diversity sake, no lowering of standards, no “its all about me.”  Yes, all that from a picture.

*Wundram, who is about a hundred, has written  columns of a similar nature for decades.  He also sits on the QCT Editorial Board where he gets to exercise  his nasty side along with the others.  Hate of conservatives often drips from the editorial columns. As an institution it is one of the reasons for this blog, responding to hate and distortions from the left.  We don’t subscribe, don’t have to as it is so liberally generic.
