WE OWE OUR READERS AN APOLOGY

WE CAN’T SEEM TO SHAKE OUR CONTEMPT FOR THE SAME PEOPLE WHO WERE SHOCKED AND APPALLED BY TRUMP’S PRIVATE REMARKS WHO CELEBRATE VULGARITY, PROFANITY, MISOGYNY, AND DECADENCE AT 60TH GRAMMYS

In our article yesterday on Kendrick Lamar, one of the Grammy’s most highly lauded honorees Sunday night, we should have prefaced with a “Trigger Warning”. We should have noted that the article contained some of Mr. Lamar’s most popular song lyrics which some readers may find vulgar, profane, and offensive … or we think, should have.

It should be added that we receive no satisfaction in printing the exact words as they appear in Lamar’s songs. As you may have noted if you read the article, the rapper’s music is replete with disgusting references to various sex acts, speaks in favorable terms of misogyny and grossly decadent life styles, and portrays his own life choices as a desirable model for his fans, many of whom are youthful with few positive adult role models in their lives.

The reason we print such starkly offensive words and graphic descriptions is to alert our readers in the clearest possible terms just what is being fed to America’s young people, celebrated as “breakout talent”.

To simply report that much of this almost universally honored artist’s ‘work’ is “vulgar and offensive in the extreme” is wildly deficient in attempting to inform “unsophisticated” non-rap fans who share traditional American values and are not exposed on a daily basis to this contemporary musical ‘art’ form.

This is what is being fed to America’s children and young people on a daily basis, promoted by prominent and ‘respected’ entertainment figures as well as by none other than the most recent former president of the United States and his “model family”.

From one account of Sunday’s “music” extravaganza:

“Kendrick Lamar smashed it at the 60th Grammy Awards, taking home 5 out of the 7 awards he was nominated for–Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video and BestRap Performance for “HUMBLE” (and a ‘collab’ with Rihanna)…all while looking incredible and living his truth.”

And, with no intention to belabor readers with more such ‘talented offerings”, along with further apology, here is the Lamar lyrics from ‘verse 2’ of his award winning “Best Rap Performance”, “HUMBLE” (note: he’s “living his truth”):

[Verse 2]
Who dat nigga thinkin’ that he frontin’ on Man-Man? (Man-Man)
Get the fuck off my stage, I’m the Sandman (Sandman)
Get the fuck off my dick, that ain’t right
I make a play fucking up your whole life
I’m so fuckin’ sick and tired of the Photoshop
Show me somethin’ natural like afro on Richard Pryor
Show me somethin’ natural like ass with some stretch marks
Still will take you down right on your mama’s couch in Polo socks
Ayy, this shit way too crazy, ayy, you do not amaze me, ayy
I blew cool from AC, ayy, Obama just paged me, ayy
I don’t fabricate it, ayy, most of y’all be fakin’, ayy
I stay modest ’bout it, ayy, she elaborate it, ayy
This that Grey Poupon, that Evian, that TED Talk, ayy
Watch my soul speak, you let the meds talk, ayy
If I kill a nigga, it won’t be the alcohol, ayy
I’m the realest nigga after all

Nobody watched. The advertising rates will reflect the audience’s size. There is less money coming in, less can be donated. Look at the disparity in fund raising and the DNC’s debt. The media is going to great lengths describing the emperor-to-be’s wardrobe. Not only are there no clothes, there’s no emperor.
