Senator Rubio Regrets…he will not lunch today…with the GOP

Senator Rubio Regrets
(perhaps he deserves the political fate of the very proper “Miss Otis’)*

Sen. Marco Rubio thinks the GOP tax plan helps corporations too much   (see also our previous post)

POOR MARCO: “I can’t understand it. As my friend, soon-to-be former Senator Stuart Smalley used to say, “I’m smart enough. I’m good enough. And, doggone it, people like me!
Why am I not president?”

IS IT BECA– USE I’VE GOT GREAT BIG RED EARS?

No Marco. It’s because you’re so eager to be in a “gang”; unfortunately it often turns out to be a gang of 7 other guys who support stuff voters didn’t send you to Washington to do.

*The song, “Miss Otis Regrets” , written by Cole Porter was written and introduced in a show in 1934. The song was sung by a stuffy butler who dryly announces that Miss Otis will not lunch today. This is because, he even more dryly explains on the previous evening she shot her lover and was lynched. What distinguishes the song more than anything else is the wry tone which Porter employs to tell the story of a society lady’s down and dirty demise in the most polite terms with a demure melody to go with it.

We have ‘modified’ the lyrics somewhat to fit Senator Rubio’s “regrets”: (the real tune follows)      DLH

Master Marco regrets he’s unable to lunch today, Madam.
Master Marco regrets he’s unable to lunch today.
He is sorry to be delayed,
But last week down in Congress’ Lover’s Lane he strayed.
Madam.
Master Marco regrets he’s unable to lunch today.

When he woke up and found, that his dream of love was gone.
Madam.
He ran to the man (Trump) who had led him so far astray.
And from under a velvet gown,
He drew a gun and shot himself in both feet,
Madam.
Master Marco regrets he’s unable to lunch today.

When the voters came and got him and dragged him from the Senate,
Madam,
They strung him from the old willow cross the way.
And the moment before he died,
He lifted up his lovely head and cried,
Madam.
Master Marco regrets he’s unable to lunch today.

Master Marco regrets… he’s unable to lunch today
