Why disagree when you can hate?

JFK’s assasination; 9-11; my son’s birth. I remember those dates, and where I was. I’ve a question for those in “The Resistance”: What’s the date you began to hate Donald Trump?

We all knew of Trump. Nobody hated the guy. He sold neckties. He built golf courses. He ran a TV show. The Apprentice wasn’t much different from Survivor, or The Bachelor. Anybody hate those hosts? What was the trigger? When’s the moment? “Eureka! I HATE Trump.”

It’s nothing to do with job performance. Check the archives. Those ranting against Trump today were on that train as soon as he got near the nomination. Watch videos of Trump’s critics during the campaign. They were already full of rage. Trump hadn’t yet performed an official act.

I went back and re-read what local letter writers and columnists said about George Bush. Guess what? They wrote hateful screeds about “The W” too. Opposition to the war, and “warrantless wiretaps” were major bones of contention. Not surprisingly, those Bush-haters were silent during Obama’s presidency, even though the war continued and surveillance programs expanded. Issues weren’t the common thread, hate was. It’s what they do. It’s who they are. They’re back.

Here we are, 7 months into Trump’s term. Liberals hate him and Trump’s supporters don’t care. We see progress. The border, the stock market, jobs. We see swamp dwellers fighting for their lives. It’s ugly.

To the haters: “Keep the diatribes coming.” I love reading them. They’re ineffective. That’s a twofer in my book.
