As the sun set on the Potomac Friday night, the world was presented with an unimaginable sight. The symbolism was unmistakable, and breathtaking.
Americans saw their White House, once known as the “Peoples’ House”, bathed in the rainbow-colors of the Gay Pride movement.
And the message could not have been more clear: “We own this!”
The first thing that invading armies or victorious insurgents do when they take over a city or complete the conquest of an enemy nation is to raise their flag over its capitol, displaying to the populace and to the world that the land is theirs and the defeated people are their subjects.
