The Importance of Being (Josh) Earnest . . . and . . . Terrorism, What Terrorism?

The elevation of Josh Earnest to the position of White House Press Secretary is probably Obama’s most inadvertent, yet definitive personnel selection yet, if only because his name gives away the game.

Oscar Wilde’s most popular play, “The Importance of Being Earnest” was first presented in 1895. It is most commonly described as a “comedy farce.” It pokes fun at the wealthy and powerful of the Victorian era . . . their pretentiousness, their insatiable greed, their lust for fame and ‘proper’ recognition. The main characters are portrayed as unsympathetic fops, intensely preoccupied with their own interests and desires.

Just this synopsis describes perfectly how appropriate Josh Earnest’s position reflects the ‘comedy farce’ of the Obama administration. In his brief tenure as press secretary, Josh has uttered some of the nuttiest statements that only an Oscar Wilde could fully appreciate for their comic value.

From Breitbart News, Wednesday:

“Grilled by reporters, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest addressed an order for a “surge” of immigration IDs of up to 9 million in one year, but said the move is no confirmation President Obama will issue a major executive amnesty after the election.

“Earnest denied that the order was a indication of what Obama was planning to do.

“I think the report is that they ordered some paper,” Earnest said, insisting that the order was for “ongoing operations” at the Department of Homeland Security.

“Don’t be absurd with us!” replied White House CBS reporter Major Garrett. “That’s not just an ordinary piece of paper it’s central to what the president has promised in public to do … is that coincidental or is it unrelated?”

“You would have to ask the DHS about orders of green colored papers that they’ve ordered,” Earnest said.

Sadly the Obama administration is, indeed, a “farce’ but unfortunately there is nothing comical about its effect on America and its people.               DLH

Terrorism? What terrorism?

Those silly Canadians. They don’t know “workplace violence” when they see it.

The tragic death of a soldier on Wednesday in Ottawa, shot by an irate Canadian was immediately labelled “terrorism” by those scaredy-cat Canucks. They leaped to the same judgment about the death of another Canadian soldier who was run over the day before by a devout Muslim convert, probably hurrying from his mosque because he was late for work.

Fortunately we Americans are blessed with a government leadership which is able to remain calm and cool in the face of tragedy and not make irresponsible charges against peace-loving working folk.

Our president’s spokesperson, the very earnest “Josh”, upon getting word of the second tragedy in as many days, was characteristically measured in tone as he cautioned “folks” that it is too early to determine if there was any link to recent Islamist calls for violent Jihad against western countries.

Atta boy, Josh!

Note: Maybe the real problem is workplaces. Eric Holder should look into that.      DLH
