To say the least, flash forward, we were mistaken. In our defense, at the time Trump seemed focused on government as a business enterprise and the art of the deal was any unprincipled deal for the deals sake . . . what we see as one of the hallmarks of he establishment. Their deals left the little guys and the middle class with the short end of the stick and provided great gains to “progressives>” Later we came to understand Trumps persona better, and to appreciate that the dealing is never over and that his ridicule of the political establishment was sincere and principled and that the conservatives he surrounded himself with were not window dressing.
