Cruz event – and the importance of proportionate delegate representation

Platform development also part of precinct caucuses

getPart-3

Just returned from a rousing Cruz campaign event. Good crowd, perhaps two thousand but hard to determine from my vantage point. Heidi Cruz is a big asset.  Glen Beck gave an inspiring patriotic get out the vote presentation. Ted Cruz’s speech was mostly his standard but very energetic after a whirlwind weekend prior to the caucuses. Each speech ended with effective, even emotional exhortations for everyone to try and bring ten voters with them to the getPartcaucuses.  A tall order but the quality and inspiration from the speeches was that good. In “production value,” while still being intimate . . .  in fervor (religious and  patriotic)  . . . this event was the best this jaded politico has seen.

We hope that Cruz supporters reading this post pursue being a delegate to the county convention or at least being sure the persons they vote for at the precinct caucus are Cruz supporters.  Each caucus should have an understanding that there will be proportionate representation as best as can be determined from the delegates that precinct sends to the county convention.

getPart-2In other words if that precinct is authorized to send five delegates to the county convention and Cruz support at that caucus measures about 40% then at least two of the delegates should be Cruz supporters.  Some operate oblivious to that as it is not a requirement and for lack of interest all of one camp or another could end up being the delegates from that precinct.

This is important  for two basic reasons:  First to try to impart the value system that Cruz supporters share into the Republican Party and second, because if the nominee is not decided through the other caucus and precinct processes the determination could ultimately be made at the national convention and we hope Cruz supporters are in sufficient numbers to hold sway in the later stages of the process.

getPart-1In addition we hope Cruz supporters will propose resolutions for the platform compatible with the Cruz platform — among them:

  • Support for strict adherence to the Constitution and appointment of only judges who will interpret it accordingly.
  • Support for the right to life and opposing any government funding of abortion and organizations that are compensated in anyway for fetal organs.
  • Securing the border and no amnesty, traditional marriage, limited government, national security, educational choice.
  • More ideas are available by reviewing his platform at tedcruz.org.

Happy caucusing and bring ten more legal Iowans with you to vote for Cruz.

PS: Two excellent articles that came by us today regarding Cruz’s candidacy are this one   from Texas Monthly and David Limbaugh’s endorsement of Cruz.
